In recent years, LinkedIn has become the premiere platform for business leaders to connect with like-minded professionals across industries. LinkedIn is a great tool for networking and sharing ideas, but it can be discouraging to post or reach out and not get any engagement.
While it can be difficult to know which strategies will boost engagement on LinkedIn, there are steps professionals can take to build an audience and get more eyes on their posts. Below, 20 Forbes Business Council members share smart ways to increase engagement on your LinkedIn posts and other content.
1. Align Each Post With Specific Goals
Forget the vanity metrics and define your LinkedIn strategy. Whether you’re focused on brand awareness, leads, a career change or networking, align every post with these goals. Know your audience and share content that appeals to them, not you. Respond to comments, start conversations via messaging and engage with others’ content. Sincere engagement builds stronger relationships and leads to opportunities. – Judi Hays, Judi Hays, Inc.
2. View LinkedIn As A Network
The important thing is to view LinkedIn as a network. You can’t expect engagement unless you’re also engaging with others. You also need good, authentic content. If people comment or like your post in the first 10 minutes of posting, I’ve found that it does something to the algorithm and pushes the post to a wider audience, increasing engagement. – Kate Woodyatt Hudson, WH Communications Ltd
3. Share Insightful, Valuable Content Regularly
One great practice is to post something insightful at least once or twice a week. Also, share or repost valuable articles or thoughts from other experts. LinkedIn is a powerful tool to help you build your personal brand, so it’s important to keep learning and share the lessons you’ve learned. That’s something people truly value. – Arnold Sotelo, International Media Group SAC
